I would suggest, first, to figure out your actual price range. It can be frustrating to shop for homes without a firm grasp on your price range.
Most lenders are very helpful in helping you organize your finances. They will evaluate your financial profile, and point you in the right direction.
This can be a key point when you get to the negotiation process. Seller's need to know that they are dealing with a serious, prepared buyer who has done their homework. It could make the difference between getting the home or losing out to the competition.
